Etisalat sends team of 18 national employees to Spain for specialized training in ICT innovations

As part of its leadership development program initiative, Etisalat recently sent a team of 18 national employees to Spain to participate in a conference organized by Huawei. Etisalat’s participation at the conference, which focused on the latest innovation in ICT solutions, networks and value-added services, is in line with efforts to provide career development and training opportunities to its national employees.
The event was aimed at giving participants an opportunity to discuss critical challenges and opportunities in the communications sector, especially in the area of mobile phone applications. The conference also gave Etisalat staff an opportunity to understand the potential for mobiles phone applications in different sectors, such as healthcare and media.
Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh, Chief Human Resources Officer, Etisalat Group, said: “In the telecommunications sector, it is necessary to stay abreast with the latest innovations in the global ICT sector and assess its utility and value within the local context. I am confident that our participation in this conference will reflect positively on our product and service offering across markets.”
Speaking on the Corporation’s commitment to develop the skills of its national employees, Al Sawaleh said: “Training and preparing our national employees for taking on future business challenges has been one of our most important and abiding goals over our 35-year history.”
Al Sawaleh pointed out that the Corporation’s training days over the last three years totaled to nearly 73,800, of which 32,500 or 44 per cent was only for nationals. He also said that the average number of trainees per year in the same period had reached around 5200, which included nearly 2000 nationals.
Employees also expressed pleasure at the learning acquired through the conference. Muna Salem, Senior Manager – Services Activation, Operations Support Programs Development, Etisalat, said: “This unique conference will enable participants to not only enhance their skills but also understand the needs of customers, particularly those involving ICT innovations.”
Aisha Suhail Abdulla Almusharrakh, Director – Sales Planning and Forecasting, Etisalat, said: “This was a truly enriching experience that helped us to assess various applications and technologies that can be used via mobile phones. I would like to thank Etisalat for identifying such opportunities and allowing me to be a part of this experience.”
Maadhad Al Jabri, Acting. Vice President – Project Management Office and Budgeting at Etisalat, said: “This conference was a great platform to share knowledge about the latest technological developments in telecommunications. The sessions allowed the employees to better recognize the value of these innovative services and their role in supporting the government’s development goals.”
The conference participation was part of Etisalat’s Reyada leadership development initiative, which allows its employees to be trained in different countries, such as UAE, China, Spain, Germany and Sweden. As a comprehensive learning and development program, Reyada allows participants to be trained in different global technologies. The training module includes programs that combine theoretical elements with practical training in companies that have strategic partnerships with Etisalat.
The training program, which lasts for three months, includes a series of joint activities in which Etisalat and its strategic training partners within the ICT sector deliver customized programs that align with trainees’ specializations and career functions.
