Mobilink awards contract to Huawei and Alcatel Lucent for network expansion

As competition gets fierce in Pakistan and 3G is around, Mobilink has awarded the network expansion and upgrade contracts to Chinese Telecom giant Huawei and French company Alcatel Lucent. The timing of agreement is important as Mobilink prepares itself for the challenges 3G presents when it comes to Pakistan.
Mobilink’s parent company Orascom Telecom Holding announced the 5 year agreement with Huawei and Alcatel Lucent to provide for the design, purchase, deployment, and maintenance of next-generation mobile network equipment and supporting services.
Mobilink says that services from world’s leading network companies will help improve services and reduce operating costs.
More specifically, Huawei was awarded 50{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} of the radio network and 100{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} of the core and value added services networks, while Alcatel-Lucent was awarded the other 50{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} of the radio access network.
