Riyadh ranked sixth among the fastest capitals globally in 5G network performance, with an average download speed of 384.66 Mbps, in the first half of 2021, replacing the Swedish capital Stockholm, according to a report by Ookla, which specializes in analyzing the performance and availability of 5G networks in capital cities around the world. This constitutes a distinguished success for it reflects the KSA’s efforts in developing the ICT infrastructure and its support for the digital transformation process.
Speedtest by Ookla, the popular internet speed test tool, highlights in its report the performance and availability of 5G networks in 30 capital cities around the world, as mobile operators are investing in infrastructure to expand 5G deployment.
This classification reflects stc Group’s success in building an advanced 5G network in the Middle East, especially that the network of stc Kuwait and stc Bahrain covers the cities of Kuwait and Manama, which ranked seventh and fifteenth fastest, respectively.
