The Arab World had twelve competitive fixed line markets by June 2012

Twenty fixed line operators in fifteen Arab countries served 26.4 million fixed line subscriptions by end of 2011 down from 27.3 million by end of 2010; a drop of 3.4{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10}. A new report from Arab Advisors Group analyzes and ranks 20 fixed service operators in fifteen Arab countries by end of 2011. Telecom Egypt, Saudi Telecom (STC) and Syrian Telecom (STE) stand out as the largest Arab fixed line operators in terms of subscriptions. The analysis reveals that by end of June 2012, twelve Arab countries had liberalized their fixed line markets.
By end of 2011, the total number of fixed line subscriptions of twenty examined operators in fifteen Arab countries reached 26.441 million. Telecom Egypt had the largest fixed line subscriptions base among the examined operators, followed by Saudi Telecom and Syrian Telecom. UAE recorded the highest fixed line penetration rate by end of 2011 followed by Syria.
