The Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) will launch a mobile banking service in the next three months. The service, which will be called ‘Post e-Pay’, will offer money transfer services, bill payment services, and cash deposits and withdrawals. Transactions will be priced at BDT 3 and deposits will not accrue any interest, The Daily Star writes. The service was originally scheduled to be launched last year but was delayed “due to an unseen influence in the Bangladesh Bank,”, Sudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra, additional director general of BPO, said. BPO also signed an agreement with fixed-line operator Bangla Phone for the service. The service will be launched in seven divisional headquarters at first, and Bangla Phone will bear all the expenses during the period.
