NEC’s Kaoru Kenyoshi named Vice-Chairman of International Telecommunication Union Study Group

Driving research behind the “Internet of Things” and “Future Networks” –
NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that Mr. Kaoru Kenyoshi, senior expert, NEC Europe Ltd., was named vice-chairman of an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Study Group for the upcoming term (2013 – 2016). This will be the second consecutive term that Mr. Kenyoshi serves in a leading position for a Study Group.
Mr. Kenyoshi was appointed vice-chairman of Study Group 11 (SG11), which conducts research on the requirements and protocols for signaling systems. The appointment was made during the ITU’s world telecommunications standardization assembly held from November 20 to 29, 2012, in Dubai.

In the next study period, Mr. Kenyoshi will help guide SG11’s study of signaling systems applied to emerging communication services such as “Future Networks” and the “Internet of Things.”

The ITU’s world telecommunications standardization assembly is held once every four years. This year’s assembly is responsible for determining upcoming standardization topics, approving standardization structure, and selecting the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of Study Groups that carry out designated standardization activities for the upcoming study period.
