Etisalat Academy launched "3rd Eye on Government 2011" in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the Etisalat Academy launched the ‘3rd Eye on Government 2011”. In collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, the event took place recently at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The event, which aims to boost and support the UAE Government’s strategic efforts towards building a sustainable, competitive and innovative economy, commenced under the theme of ‘The International Leadership Best Practice; Developing Leaders for a VUCA World.’
His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, delivered the keynote at the event, where he discussed the great emphasis on leadership development in the UAE government 2021 vision.
The event highlighted the integrated approach for identifying, assessing and developing agile, resilient future leaders for a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) world. The event also highlighted the skills needed to lead change in a complex organisation and how to lead globally by focusing on collective leadership.
The event, which consisted of keynote speeches and workshops, was the third of a three-seminar initiative which began last year and continued in 2011. All three events are designed to support the vision of the UAE Government in developing the public sector and providing it with the required capabilities to achieve organisational excellence, economic development, and develop leadership skills among UAE nationals.
Etisalat Academy General Manager, David Brennan said: “The Etisalat Academy realises the importance of the UAE government’s vision in the area of developing and supporting the public sector through setting an ambitious growth outlook for the nation, supported by clearly laid out action plans.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all organisations and departments that supported us in this mission. I particularly thank the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police for their incredible support. Their participation created an added value to this series of events we are organising,” he continued.
Mrs Mariam Mohamed K. Rashid – Executive Director of the government development programs stated: “Etisalat Academy is fully aware that maximising the quality of services provided within the nation cannot be achieved without real and continuous collaboration between different organisations across the UAE. This step comes as a part of our responsibility as the leading professional training and development centre in the region and through our commitment to play a key role in achieving the government’s strategies.”
On the first day, the event touched on four key topics, namely; the new skills needed for Leaders in a VUCA World, Leading Change in Complex Organizations, Achieving Strategic Agility: Focus on Collective Leadership and, Developing Agile, Resilient Leaders for a VUCA World. On the second day, four workshops were hosted, that discussed in depth strategies around each topic.
The Event was attended by an assembly of leading figures, decision makers, business leaders and executives, managers of strategic management and organisational performance, managers of marketing centres and call centres, marketing and corporate communications managers, training managers and directors of administrative development, planning managers, human resources systems development managers, in addition to officers, leaders and official executives in the armed forces and the police.
