Etisalat wins ‘Best Broadband of the Year’ award at TMT Finance and Investment ME 2011

Etisalat won the ‘Best Broadband of the Year’ award at the TMT Finance Middle East 2011 Awards, reinforcing its industry leadership in fixed and mobile broadband Internet.  The award was presented to Etisalat at a gala ceremony organized by BroadGroup TMT Ventures, held during the two-day TMT Finance and Investment Middle East Conference that opened on 9th May in Dubai.
The award recognised Etisalat’s leading position the country’s broadband revolution that has accelerated exponentially in the UAE. Over the last year Etisalat has witnessed a 200{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} growth in data roaming traffic. Digital homes, smart buildings, intelligent household appliances, and increasingly demanding customers are now driving the requirement for greater applications and connectivity, than ever before.

Etisalat already has a nationwide 3G network, covering 99{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} of the UAE’s populated area. The corporation is making ground in terms of fixed-line broadband in the UAE, which houses the world’s first capital city (Abu Dhabi) to be fully connected with fiber-optics.
During 2010, Etisalat completed its Long Term Evolution (LTE) trials and is now set to launch this future-generation high-speed, low-latency mobile broadband service. The LTE (4G) technology is designed to increase the capacity and speed of its mobile network in order to provide customers with super speeds of up to 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink.
