Qtel said ‘Fibre teams’ will be calling on customers to provide switchover services in the next stage of its campaign to provide high-speed internet to homes and businesses across Qatar. In recent months, more than 1,000 km of high-speed fibre-optic cables have been laid throughout Doha to provide fast internet experience and high definition television. Teams of engineers will be visiting homes in key areas in the weeks and months ahead to make the installations required to enable the switchover from copper to fibre, which will take place later in the year. Qtel broadband, landline and Mozaic customers in the fibre areas can all expect a visit from Qtel’s fibre team. The first visit takes two to three hours and its purpose is to ensure that customers have the necessary infrastructure and connection. There will then be a second visit after the commercial launch in the second half of the year. Qtel’s fibre team members will always carry identification.
