Etisalat was once again honoured as the UAE’s ‘Superbrand’, at the ‘Superbrands’ tribute event that was held recently in Dubai. The ‘Superbrand’ award recognizes Etisalat’s distinct set of brand values and reputation. Brand ‘Etisalat’ has earned an enviable position in the industry, characterized by innovation, reliability, value and customer-centricity at the core of commitment to break new grounds in the Middle East, North Africa and beyond.
Commenting on the occasion, Jaber Al Janahi, Vice President Corporate Communications at Etisalat said, “Etisalat is one of the largest telecom service providers in the region and a pioneer in introducing innovative services in the UAE. Etisalat has been a fabric of society since the 1970’s. It is a brand that places the customer’s interest at the heart of its business. The ‘Superbrand’ status is awarded to the top brands in the UAE and we are proud to have received the prestigious honour once again this year.”
Jaber Al Janahi added, “In over three decades, the corporation has made the UAE one of the most connected nations globally, recently making Abu Dhabi the first fiber-connected Capital of the world. It has connected 7.43 million mobile customers on its network, 1.13 million subscribers to the fixed line network and has 1.4 million Internet users in the UAE. The penetration of mobile phones service in the UAE has exceeded the 200 percent mark, the highest in the region, and comparable to the highest in the world.”
Etisalat has invested over AED 6 billion to build the first revolutionary fiber-optic network (FTTH) in the UAE, enabling a whole new entertainment and communication experience for its consumers through its flagship eLife services.
The company’s mobile users enjoy the region’s fastest broadband speeds over its extensive 3G network and a range of services and applications such as GPRS, HSPA+, Blackberry and others. The launch of LTE services in the third quarter of 2011 will position the country amongst the world’s firsts in introducing this groundbreaking technology. LTE is one of the latest innovations in mobile broadband technologies in the world, with a peak downloading speed of up to 150MBps. It is a natural evolution from earlier generations of mobile broadband (2G and 3G) and will deliver users the benefits of faster data speeds and new services.
Etisalat has also created strong global associations through a prudent investment strategy and acquisitions in emerging markets such as Sri lanka, India, Nigeria and Afghanistan.
Ranked among the Fortune Global 500, Etisalat operates in 18 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, servicing over 135 million customers out of a total population of over 2 billion people.
