Jacky’s Electronics has held an ‘Eco-Exchange Recycling Roadshow’ to promote its consumer electronics recycling services.
The event, which was held at the retailer’s Mirdif City Centre outlet, aimed to raise awareness of the need for recycling of end-of-life IT and consumer electronics products. The roadshow included a question and answer competition, along with spot prizes including Fujifilm digital cameras and a Nintendo Wii Console.
The Eco-Exchange service is available through Jacky’s stores in the UAE, and allows customers to trade in their old mobile phones, notebooks, cameras, MP3 players and gaming consoles in exchange for vouchers that can be put against future purchases.
Staff in-store assess the value of any devices, even non-working devices, and offer vouchers accordingly. Items with no exchange value are recycled for free.
“Going green has been a united effort by companies in the world and we would like to take part in creating awareness on the value of recycling electronic products with our customers. Holding this roadshow during DSS is an ideal time as we are able to target the whole family, including the youngsters and teenagers, and keep them informed of different ways to properly dispose their gadgets without any harmful effects to our environment,” said Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer, Jacky’s Electronics.
