Warid Telecom supports healthcare initiatives

The telecom sector has always been at the forefront of various social initiatives in Pakistan. Warid Telecom is one such companies that has remained active in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. The operator continues its support to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center and Pink Ribbon Pakistan in spreading awareness about breast cancer. In its efforts to contribute and mark October as the breast cancer awareness month, Warid has collected funds of Rs 1.3 million through SMS donations for breast cancer awareness in October and before it, for the Zakat campaign for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust during Ramadan, says a Press release. Along with circulation of awareness messages to its subscribers, Warid employees at Business Centers in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi volunteered in distributing awareness material on the life-threatening cancer and the importance of its early diagnosis while Warid’s official website and other social channels also promoted cancer awareness.“Battling cancer is the most distressing experience for a woman and her family. Unfortunately, Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer for any Asian population in the world and we are pleased to support a cause which increases awareness about breast cancer and supports efforts to develop a cure for this disease”  said Sadaf Zarrar, Director Marketing Communication, Warid Telecom. Dr Faisal Sultan, CEO Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Omer Aftab, CEO Pink Ribbon Campaign Pakistan, appreciated the continuous support by Warid. As in the past, Warid Telecom has always shown strong commitment towards the health and well being of society.
