Nawras, Oman’s customer friendly communications provider, is proud to be the Gold Sponsor of this year’s Summer of Sports programme, for the fourth consecutive year. Organised by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, the extensive programme is currently underway and is giving the youth of Oman an opportunity to follow in the successful sporting footsteps of Nawras brand ambassadors Ahmad Al Harthy and Ali Al Habsi. Youngsters can enjoy 37 different sporting disciplines taking place at 350 training facilities across the country.
Last year, the Summer of Sports programme engaged more than 60,000 participants and enabled them to learn the virtues of sportsmanship, fair play and team work as well as develop their confidence and creativity. An even higher level of interest is expected this year. Qualified coaches are on hand to teach new skills and offer expert advice on how to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle over the one and a half months of the programme.
Mutassim Hamood Al-Zadjali, Head of Corporate Affairs said, “Nawras is delighted to partner with the Ministry of Sports Affairs to bring exciting activities to thousands of students throughout the country. The Summer of Sports programme is valuable to the youth of Oman as it offers the perfect balance of skill development and fun.”
He added, “With the 2012 Summer Olympic Games about to start in London, participants in the Summer of Sports programme can get a taste of the action themselves by learning a new sport or taking part in a favourite activity over the summer break.”
As an integral member of Omani society, Nawras has been a long time sponsor of the Summer of Sports Programme and is extremely proud to have strong sporting links with two of Oman’s top sportsmen. Highly successful goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, the only Omani playing in the English Premier League, and racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy, who regularly secures podium finishes in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, are both a valued part of the Nawras family.
This summer, Nawras is also proud to be sponsoring the Beach Handball World Cup Championships which started on 8 July in Al Mussanah. The competition involves 24 teams from around the world and Nawras is there to meet their communications needs.
Nawras, a Qtel Group company, has shown its commitment to caring for the community by supporting key national initiatives and delivering rewarding and pleasingly different communications services by continuing to seek versatile and innovative ways to enrich the daily lives of people in Oman.
