  • The number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 952.91 Million at the end of April, 2012 from 951.34 Million at the end of March 2012, thereby registering a growth rate of 0.16{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10}. The share of Urban subscribers has declined to 64.95{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} from 65.23{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} whereas share of Rural Subscribers has increased to 35.05{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} in the month of April 2012. With this, the overall Tele-density in India reaches to 78.71 at the end of April, 2012 from 78.66 of the previous month.
